Neighborhood Watch

crows copy.jpg

6” x 8”

Primary Techniques:

Line etching, dry point, selective ink wiping and giclée.

A collaboration between etcher John Oaks and photographer Gerald Bisgard.

Using G. Bisgard’s digital photo as inspiration, John Oaks etched the two crows sitting on the sign along California’s Pacific Coast. The etching is first printed in black ink on Zerkahal copperplate white paper and then the digitally modified photo is printed with an inkjet printer.

The focus of this piece is the requirement of a sign to remind us that nature has an important role in our lives as well as the lives of those living in the natural world. Our crows seem to be the guardians of their surroundings.
