Veiled Thoughts

2006

two 8” x 10” plates

Primary Techniques:

Mezzotint and Line Etching

This piece was shown at the Society of American Graphic Artists Members Exhibition at the Old Print Shop in lower Manhattan, and I believe is still available from them.

This piece was finished a day or two before my Studio opening. On the night of the opening I posted a request in the Studio. “Please help me name this new piece, and I will send you a print.”

The suggestions were serious or humorous, as well as thoughtful and off-the-wall. I had 40 suggestions, and I appreciate them all. The one that struck me most deeply came from one of my younger visitors and thanks to Isabelle, the piece now carries her title: "Veiled Thoughts". I think it reflects that the clothing of these two women from different cultures, hides not only their bodies but their thoughts.
